Settling

5a399bfd0c369ba170ac321f82562cd4She sits sideways
Fragile as dust
Waiting to dissipate
If the wind shifts
Tears dry from time
Slipping swiftly past
While dreams fade
Replaced by settling
Deep inside her bones
Where love died
And she was born
From its ashes
These charred ruins
That decide her fate
Cool in desert air
Detached like his voice
Whispering sharp
Cutting deep
After all this time
While she waits
In this exact spot
Wishing for change
To come her way
On the shifting winds
But they’re gone
And she’s still settling.
