A Nerd is Born Every Second

A nerd is born every second. I know because there are enough of us out there. We buy our puzzles new and we protect our pockets at all times and from all substances. We listen to “Weird Al” Yankovic and we laugh at Frasier and The Big Bang Theory, but not because we’re laughing at the highfalutins, but because we GET the jokes they tell. We drive sensible cars (that are not bright red) and we put the money we get into IRAs and high yield/high risk money market accounts (gotta live dangerously sometimes). We color inside the lines and we collect graph paper just for fun. We wear glasses, or maybe some of us have gotten contacts or that Lasik procedure to make us seem cooler. We play with female characters in video games when at all possible. We argue over who was smarter: Kirk or Spock. We get haircuts every second Friday like clockwork. A nerd is born every second. And that’s okay. We need more of us in this world.
