Sliding Scales

Scales tilting
One by one
Left to right
Like dominoes
White on black
Falling swiftly
Slick like Icarus
With ice cold wings
Blind justice on pause
Waiting for cessation
Casual acquaintance
Once met, twice denied
Balancing on edge
An angel’s pirouette
Practiced
Calculated
Responsible like rain
Sliding down windowpanes
Steady and willing
See-saw traction
Playground thick
Falling like snow
Heavy laden
Into a sea
Of black on white
Transposed
And sliding.
