So, I did it. Five days early and I pushed past the 50,000 word mark on my novel. 50,000 words in 25 days, which gives me a win for NaNoWriMo, but more importantly it gives me the satisfaction of doing what I set out to do. Of course it’s about writing a complete novel as well, and I’m not there yet, so I’m still writing. Here are my stats…
Words written today: 1,014
Total words written: 50,254
Average words per day: 2,010

Last year when November started I wasn’t even sure I could do it, that I could buckle down and be disciplined enough, not to mention be creative enough to write something so large in such a short period of time. Until that time I had honestly labeled myself a short story writer, a poet, and sometimes writer of longer pieces, but the largest thing I had written and completed was 40,000 words, so thinking of at least 10,000 more was definitely daunting. Yet, I was able to tap into a network of writers who were working hard on the same objective, and it was incredible.
Then this year came around and I had absolutely no ideas for a story, but on November 1st I just sat down and started writing anyway. Now, twenty-five days later, and that “barely there” idea has fully bloomed. In fact, I like this one so much that it might end up being my next published work. Now, if I can just finish it. I’m thinking 60,000 words.

Good job. I can’t even dream of an accomplishment like this and especially in such a relatively short time.
Thanks, Daryl! It feels good to say I was able to do it again.
