“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill
One thing that my favorite quotes have in common is the sense of immediacy that comes along with them. They’re not just quotes said for a particular time in history and that only fit in that time. They transcend moments and eras, and they speak to me on a personal level even though the people who said the quotes never knew me. I often wonder who that person was talking to, and about what, when I read their words, but ultimately it doesn’t even matter. And some of the best quotes come from the oddest places and from people I wouldn’t have even remotely expected. So, here are my top 5 quotes:
5. “The best way to accomplish your goals is to stop letting others tell you what those goals should be.” – Theodicus
4. “We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we’re not alone.” – Orson Welles
3. “It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.” – Ronald Reagan
2. “Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason.” – Jerry Seinfeld
1. “There is no greater impediment to the advancement of knowledge than the ambiguity of words.”
Sam
I love all five of them!
Thanks, Daryl. It was really hard whittling them down to just five.
I’ll bet! 🙂
