Flights of fancy
Sun-kissed in reverie
Oft dismissed as childish
In silent moments
Alone with a dream
Shut behind eyelids
Shaded from moonlight
Twinkling sweetly
But no one sees
A touch of mystery
Drunk with time’s intrigue
And yesterday’s love
Blowing in the dusty wind
Catching rapid fire
Staccato rhythm fading
Into silence
Fumbling forward
So dark
In hiding from the world
Waiting to be reborn
From shadow and light
Wings unfurled
And taking flight.
