Welcome to Newport, Part 2: My Phoneographic Journey

My phoneographic journey through Newport, my village, my neighborhood. I introduced you to the village in my previous post, but that was through words. This is through phoneography, the daily post challenge of the week. Enjoy!

I spent a lot of time at the local library, which isn’t much bigger than my house but feels larger than life because of what it contains.

I call this the “compound” because it is a gated mystery. I have only been on its grounds once, but still draws me in every time I pass.

I know, I’m a little too big for this slide but it is my favorite color and it resembles a snake. I am at the top, right before sliding down into snowy fluff.

Our barn is really old, and it took ages to get this photo. I was worried because the wind was creaking through the eaves while I was doing this.

Welcome to East Street.

My wife went to this school that sits on the end of our block. I see it so often I forget how authentic it still looks. I wish I could go inside.

This place always reminds me of a small village theater, but my wife says it used to be a bank back in Depression times.

This is the famous creek itself, that gave its name to the school district my children will graduate from, the place of dreams. This is a view from the bridge. Gathering these photographs for my phoneography was an adventure unto itself. Finding the right places, and angles, and perspectives was a challenge. I also had to weed through over a dozen pictures to deliver to you these. Thank you for accompanying me on my journey through my neighborhood. Sam
