I Lived Through It, But I Don’t Remember It!

      1. One thing, in keeping with your article, people here in France would say do you know so and so (a musician, performer), they had/have a career in America, and I would never have heard of them.

      2. Now if that person was truly an international star like Michael Jackson, everyone would know who he was despite wherever you happened to be. Do we even have those kinds of transcendent stars anymore? Maybe some movie stars…

  1. And the girl who played Todd Bridge’s sister on that show… also had a rough go of it, too…

Celebs and publicists… they know that ANY publicity is good publicity, generally. Sex sells, period. Unfortunately the direction our culture is going, the raunchier, nastier, more in your face it is, the better. Nothing is left to the imagination anymore, and people are going to more extremes to be noticed and talked about. And if something happens to promote a certain groups agenda, you can bet it will be applauded and rammed down our throats even more, the goal being that the more we see it, the more desensitized we become to it, and the less likely we will fight it. Same way with taking controversial issues and making them funny… relateable… if you can take something that offends the majority and introduce it in a non-threatening and humorous way, it’s only a matter of time before the group that objects shrinks down so much that the voice of opposition is no longer the stronger voice.

    1. That is definitely our society these days. And yes, what happened to poor Dana Plato was really sad. It has to be tough for child stars. Look at Drew Barrymore and everything that should have killed her. And the publicity and publicists are also to blame, because they just look at the dollar signs and what keeps their star in the public’s eye.
