1.) What was a pivotal (life-changing) moment in your life?
Well, there have been so many, but I guess I would have to say when I moved here to
upstate New York. I stood at a crossroads then. I wasn’t finished college yet, I had no job here, and I was coming here to be with a girl I knew mostly from the internet. It all could have gone so horribly wrong (and my mom was definitely worried), but following my heart worked out.
2.) If you could recommend 1 or 2 books to me, what would you recommend, and why?
I’m not sure what kinds of books you appreciate, but if I could only recommend two, I would probably go with City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare, and Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn. City of Bones is the amazing beginning to a fantasy series about shadowhunters, and probably my second favorite book in the series. I’ve suggested this book (and series) to several people in the past year, and each and every one of them has loved it. Gone Girl is a very palpable book about a man who is accused of killing his wife. She is missing, but we get scenes from her mind in her diary, interposed with his vignettes on how he’s trying to protect himself from the police and the press who think he’s guilty. It’s a page turner! I love mysteries.
3.) If you were going to throw a party, what foods would you prepare? What type of party would you throw? What decorations would you have? What entertainment would you provide?
Since I’m a vegetarian, no meat would be prepared. I don’t mind having meat around. I just don’t prepare it, so if anyone else wanted to bring it for those carnivores, go for it. I do like
nachos, so a huge platter of nachos would definitely be in order. I love decorations too, so there would be many of them. Homemade decorations are so much better than storebought any day. I would have my little ones make huge banners filled with stickers and various other drawings that would suit the theme, whatever that happened to be. I would also DJ the affair. I love to DJ. Let’s bring back techno. Where you been, Moby?
4.) If you had one day all to yourself, unlimited income, and could do anything you wanted, what would you do? Who would you include?
This is the first tough question. I mean, you would think unlimited income means you have unlimited access to whatever you want, but that’s not true. I honestly don’t think I would do anything with those unlimited funds. I mean, maybe I could use some of them to get on a plane to Ireland. I’ve always enjoyed that place. I could spend a day wandering the countryside, but that would be kind of boring, since I’m all by myself. Okay, okay. I’d do it anyway, even if it would be boring. It would still be Ireland, so yeah, I’d do that.
5.) What lifts you up when you are down?
My family lifts me up when I’m down. And my friends. I maintain that everyone should have family and friends who are there for them because everyone gets down. We can be there for each other, and share in the joys as well as the pains. Oh, and music. If someone isn’t around and I’m down, I like to crank up the Van Halen and drift away.
